Townsville Hockey Association's beginner Hockey program - Mini Sticks is for players aged 4 - 11 years old!
Mini Sticks gives young boys and girls the opportunity to learn the basic skills of hockey, develop fundamental motor skills, and make friends, all while beginning their lifelong love of hockey! The program is open to all new and existing players.
Each week the Mini Sticks Program will, under the guidance of qualified coaches and mentors include:
Beginner - Basic hockey skills and fun modified gamesLevel 1 - Harder skills and more modified gamesLevel 2 - Game play based skills and small team gamesLevel 3 - Basis of positioning and game play with small team games and on-field coachesKookaroos - Get ready for U10 with a position based 9 vs 9 competition with on-field coaches
- Each level will focus on hockey safety as a key part of our game.
Mini Sticks runs as two program options during school terms:
1. Saturday mornings from 8.30am to 9.30am at the Townsville Hockey Complex.
2. Tuesday afternoons from 5:15pm to 6:15pm at Joe Kirwan Park, Charles St, Kirwan.
Players can register in either one or both of the programs.

The cost of the Mini Sticks program includes:
- Hockey Queensland Registration
- New Mini Sticks Uniform Shirt
- Hockey Socks
- Every new player will receive a new Mazon Junior 500 hockey stick and
- Mazon Mini Hockey Ball
As part of the program, each player will receive a Mini Sticks Uniform Shirt and Hockey Socks.
Players are requested to wear black shorts/skirt/bikepants with their uniform shirt.

Come down to Mini Sticks on Saturday morning or Tuesday afternoon to try our program. Hockey Sticks are available for new players wanting to give hockey a go.
